On a corner lot situated on the heart of Lima’s tourist district, we had to develop a mix-use building for hotel, housing and commerce with a strong image and using all the space available. The strategy adopted was to include an element that united all parties: an urban space located at a half level below the sidewalk and that culminates in a triple height. The building is presented as a volume supported by a transparent base occupied by the commercial area. One of the two facades is a metal grid that houses the apartments terraces, the other one is materialized as a polychrome screen apparently suspended in mid-air with an alternating rhythm of windows framing the hotel area.
